Screenwriter and director from the state of Zulia, Venezuela. She resides in Queretáro, México, after spending 8 years in Barcelona, Spain. Maria has a degree in Audiovisual Social Communication from "Rafael Belloso Chacín University", and a degree in Hispanic Literature from the "Universidad del Zulia". She completed a master's degree in Animation at IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra, at its headquarters in Barcelona, Spain as well as a master's in children's and youth books and literature at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
She works as a Professor of Animation at the School of Performing Arts of the Experimental Faculty of Art of the University of Zulia. On the other hand, besides dedicating herself to teaching, she works as an animation Director at Kai Studio. Her latest animated short, that she wrote and directed, Tigre, has won over 58 film festival awards. It has the honor of a Tribeca Festival selection with Whoopi's Wonderful World of Animation shorts program. As director of her animated short film Girasol, she also won 5 awards Globally.
Other notable projects are the animated short film "My Friend the Painter" where she worked as a director, was the winner of a Manuel Trujillo Duran Award and a special mention at the Ciudad Guayana Children's Film Festival. The music video "Chumba La Cachumba" was made for Editorial Ekaré, a viral video with almost six million views on YouTube where she worked as Director.
