Biography

Sverre Indris Joner - born 19. July 1963 in Oslo, Norway. Composer, arranger, orchestra leader, pianist.

Won the "Edvard-award"-2005 from TONO for Electrocutango and the theatre piece "Tanghost" and the "Kardemomme-award" 2001 by NOPA (Norwegian Popular Composers Union).

• Got the honorary title "Academico correspondiente" from Academia Nacional del Tango de Argentina from national poet Horacio Ferrer 2011.
• All 3 CDs by Tango for 3 nominated for the "Spellemannprisen" (Norwegian Grammy-award).

He has studied music at the University of Oslo and has done several journeys in Latin-America Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Cuba. In particular he has been studying Afro-Cuban percussion. He has also taken courses and private classes in film-music-composition, orchestration, sound-engineering and computer-music programming.

Has composed and arranged music for numerous band under own direction (Electrocutango, Hovedøen Social Club, Tango for 3, La Descarga) mostly within different Latin genres. Composes, produces and arranges music for film, television, theatre, dance and CDs for other artists. Works frequently as composer and arranger for chamber- and symphony-orchestras in several European countries, where he often figure as soloist with one of his bands.

Outside Norway he collaborates with singer Julia Zenko and with choreographer Pablo Verón (Buenos Aires) in various projects. He also collaborates with Cuban legendary bass-player Carlos del Puerto (Irakere) in band- and orchestral projects.

His symphonic salsa-project "Clasicos a lo cubano" is particularly popular on YouTube. And was released in Latin-America by Sony Mexico.
