Biography

American actress Angela Loretta Higgins was born to parents Margaret Lorraine (1926-2012) and Breece Higgins in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was raised by her mother and her stepfather Barney Howard Ozment (1921-1988). After graduating with a degree in communication from Detroit's Wayne State University, she opted for a performing career and joined both Actor's Equity and SAG-AFTRA. Much of her work was on stage. She was lauded by critics for her lead role as one of the three main protagonists in a revival of Eugene O'Neill's play 'Moon for the Misbegottten' at the Attic Theatre in Wisconsin.

In the wake of her debut in 1982, Loretta's appearances on the screen were infrequent. She had a few small supporting roles, most notably in Julianne Moore's horror film 6 Souls (2010), the political thriller The Ides of March (2011) (starring Ryan Gosling and George Clooney) and the off-beat retelling of the Roman poet's life, set in modern day Detroit, Ovid and the Art of Love (2019). The latter was to be her final motion picture role. Loretta passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease on July 14, 2025 at the age of 68.
