Shane is one of-if not the-longest-running gay reality stars on U.S. television. We say "one of" because, while RuPaul is now a reality TV powerhouse, his roots were originally in acting. Shane, by contrast, began his reality TV career before RuPaul made the leap into the genre.

A true force of nature within the MTV network and Bunim/Murray Productions, Shane consistently stands out in every season he appears in. He's heavily featured across episodes, with some even centered entirely around him-his social strategy, magnetic personality, and that inexplicable charisma that makes him impossible to ignore. Shane doesn't need direction to be entertaining; his raw, unfiltered worldview and unapologetic honesty make him a natural in front of the camera. Shane made history as the first openly gay man featured on MTV's Road Rules, joining the 2002 season Campus Crawl. He was also one of only six cast members-out of nearly 90-to be invited back for the franchise's farewell season, Road Rules: Viewers' Revenge.
