Mumbai Native Mrunal Mestri began working as a Writer, Director, at the age of 17. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of BFA in Film Making from New York Film Academy, Mestri continued pursuing her MA in Film and Media Production and graduated from NYFA's class of 2022. She's known for her grit, creativity, resilience and commitment in the world of Filmmaking. She's widely known for her stylistic approach with directing through visuals and emotions and has achieved excellence in her craft by directing 11 Short Films, 3 Feature Length micro dramas and 4 music videos.
Her thesis film "Voler" debuted at the prestigious TCL Chinese Theatre, garnering 12 wins and 15 nominations across the globe. Her selections include, The Canadian Screen Award Qualifying "Worldfest Houston International Film Festival", "New York International Women's Film Festival", "Top Shorts Film Festival", "Short to the point", "Center Film Festival" and many more. Her short starred Craig NG who's also associated with the academy award winning film "Everything Everywhere All At Once". Voler was released on movie saints, a streaming platform for independent films, in 2023.
Her debut independent short "Malti" has won an award at every film festival it was screened at. The trailer of her short was also shared by a veteran Indian Actor "Amitabh Bachchan", which lead to receiving over a million views on all major social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. The film played at "Winter Film Awards, New York" ( the selection rate is less than 3% at this film festival", "Mumbai International Short Film Festival", "California Women's International Film Festival", "NEFVTA Film Festival" and "Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival". The film's also participated in the prestigious Dada Sahib Phalke Short Film Festival and entered the Top 100 Shorts category.
Mrunal has also marked her territory in the Vertical world of Film Making by Directing three successful Feature length micro dramas which were trending on their respective platforms for over a month. Mestri wishes to dedicate her life to cinema by imprinting her own niche on the world of storytelling and catering to stories based on gender, relationships and life.
