Biography

Dan's first film, Entropy (1999) was about how two parents cope with the loss of their children. The film was screened at several festivals around the country including Cleveland International and Temeculah International. His second film, Listen (2001), is a 35MM documentary about inner city youth and their stuggle to avoid gang and drug involvement. Produced in cooperations with "Voices in Harmony" and "The Fullfillment Fund", two Los Angeles mentoring organizations, the film had its premiere at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Dan has worked in TV production on several shows including ER (1994), The Sopranos (1999), Party of Five (1994), Time of Your Life (1999), Fantasy Island (1998) and The West Wing (1999). A native of Chicago, where he worked in several regional theatres including The Body Politic and Circle Theatre, Dan is a graduate of the Carnegie-Mellon University, Southern Illinois University and The Second City training Center.

Dan has worked in TV production on several programs including ER (1994), The Sopranos (1999), Party of Five (1994), Time of Your Life (1999), Fantasy Island (1998), The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993), She TV (1994) and The West Wing (1999).

Dan has directed and produced two 35mm films. The first, Entropy (1999), appeared in several film festivals around the country. His second film, Listen (2001), a documentary about inner city teens avoiding involvement with drugs and alcohol, was marketed as a teaching tool in classrooms throughout the United States.

As a writer, Dan's produced work includes additional writing on the film "Listen". He also wrote "Canterbury Air" at Los Angeles City College and Brethren Christian High School, Long Beach, CA; "Crew Hours" at Los Angeles City College and "An Elf Chorus Line" for "In The Spotlight Studio" in New Jersey.

As a Casting Director, Dan cast "John and Carolyn Kennedy, The White House Years" for National Geographic Channel. He also cast "Nixon In China, '72" for Central Chinese Television (CCTV), Beijing, China. He has directed over 70 plays and dozens of industrials. He was a board member at the award-winning Circle Theatre in Chicago and has had productions in New York at New Dramatists and for Ensemble Studio Theatre. Additional Los Angeles credits include productions at The Whitefire Theatre, Barnsdale Art Gallery, The Tiffany and Met Theatre, The St. Ambrose Arts Center, Bang Theatre and The HBO Workspace, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Write-Act Theatre and Magna Carta Theatre. He has founded and directed several comedy/improvisational groups, including "Authorized Personnel", which toured the country. He was also the producing director for the company Plays On Tape, where he directed their premiere productions of "Thanatos" and "The Bug". Dan was the judge for 2004 Inaugural Galesburgh Film Festival in Galesburgh, Illinois.

Dan Green received his MFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, his BA from Southern Illinois University and is a graduate of The Second City and The Second City Player's Workshop in Chicago. In 2005, he was the keynote speaker for the Freshman Orientation program and delivered the keynote address at Carnegie Mellon's 2005 Commencement.
