Biography

Raphael Assaf is a director and producer best known for the feature films The Zero Sum (2009) and I Am My Father (2001). He and his family spent 6 years rebuilding an off-grid resort in the Canadian Rockies. In 2016, he obtained a Private Investigator's License and documented the life of an Uber driver during the height of the taxi drivers' crisis at City Hall. Now based in the UK, Raphael continues to make films and lecture at various universities. Most recently he has directed the short film Coach vs Critic to be released 2026 as well as How An Artist Creates, a feature documentary partly shot at Childwickbury.
