Rabia Amin was an orphan, Christian girl from Agra whom Tahir Husain had discovered in Dehradun. He had brought her over to his home in Bombay where she was given shelter. Husain's wife Zeenat had mentored Rabia and she changed her name and religious beliefs. There were stories that Tahir Husain was, in fact, Jiah Khan's father, which Jiah categorically denied.
