  • Komeil Soheili is an independent film director and producer whose work focuses on social justice and environmental issues. He began his career as a documentary researcher and assistant while still a student and later earned an MA in Cultural Studies and Media from the University of Tehran.

    After moving into directing, his documentary Laleh Complex premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival, and Freedom was nominated for Best Documentary at the Fajr International Film Festival. He later studied cinema in Indonesia and attended the Busan Asian Film School.

    In 2019, he directed Coexist, which won several awards including the Golden Kapok Award, the United Nations Award, and the Meihodo Grand Award. He continued producing independent documentaries, including Painting Through Pain, produced by Voice of America, which was recognized at the 49th Gracie Awards. His work has also been selected at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Ulju Mountain Film Festival, and the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival.

    In 2025, his feature-length documentary As the Bell Rings received the Grand Award at the Seoul Eco Film Festival and was released theatrically across South Korea. He is also a professor of cinema at the Korean University of Media Arts.
