Biography

Alexandre Lessertisseur

Mini bio

  • Alexandre Lessertisseur is a French composer for film and television. He has scored close to 150 episodes of television drama, several animated feature films and around thirty stage plays.

He won Best Music at the Luchon International Film Festival in 2023 for "Le Horla" (Arte), directed by Marion Desseigne Ravel, having already won the same award in 2017 for "Manon, 20 Years" (Arte), the series by Oscar-winning director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade. His score for the animated feature "Sheep & Wolves" (Wizart Animation, official selection in Annecy) was nominated at the 2016 Jerry Goldsmith Awards, and his score for "Glace" took second place there in 2017.

In international children's programming, he is the sole composer of all 52 episodes of "Theodosia" (HBO Max, CBBC, ZDF) and all 39 episodes of "Spellbound" (Hulu), both produced by Cottonwood Media. He also scored the Chinese animated feature "Return" (ORI Animation).

In France, he wrote the music for "Glace" (M6, Netflix), directed by Laurent Herbiet and named Best Series at the 2016 La Rochelle Festival, for "Malaterra" (France 2), and, in tandem with R. Jericho, for several of Christophe Lamotte's films for TF1, including "Le Jour ou j'ai brule mon coeur", "La Part du Soupcon" and "Une Affaire Francaise".

For the stage, he has composed for productions starring Alain Delon and for plays by Laurent Ruquier and Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Trained at the Atla music school, he founded the electro-rock band BACKSTAB, and later worked in Los Angeles for William Ross, musical director of the 2013 and 2014 Academy Awards.
