Biography

Hou is an actress, screenwriter, producer, and stage actress from mainland China. She graduated from the Performance Arts Department of Beijing Film Academy in 2001.

She started her acting career in 2005, starring in the movie "Gone with the Wind" and won the Silver Lily Award. In 2009, she starred in the movie "The Wind and Dust", which was shortlisted for the Cairo International Film Festival. In 2010, she starred in the TV series "Lady Shexiang" and won the second prize of the 29th Flying Apsaras Award for Long TV Series. In 2013, she starred in the epic drama "Heroic Age" produced by Zhang Jizhong; in the same year, she served as the first female narrator of the TV series "Archives" of Beijing Media Network. Later, she cooperated with Peking University and other universities, served as the "Tagore" artistic director of drama, directed and starred in "Red Oleander", which became the opening drama of the "International Forum on Tagore and the World Today". In 2018, she starred in and served as the performance director of the movie "No Life", which was shortlisted for the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival; in the same year, her theatrical work "The Day After Tomorrow" won the Best Script Award for Chinese Drama Literature. In 2019, she went to India and Bangladesh to serve as the chief director of the opening drama to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and the "China Cultural Month". In 2020, she starred in the film "Higher Animals", which was shortlisted for the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival. In 2021, she served as an artistic consultant for the film "A Wolf on Watch", which was shortlisted for the main competition of the 16th FIRST International Film Festival. In 2023, she starred in the film "Village Secretary A Xia" and won the Best Asian Actress Award at the 10th La Femme Independent Film Festival. In 2023, she served as a first-time producer and starred in the film " Farewell, Starry Night"; in the same year, she starred in the world's first XR drama film "Macbeth" as Lady Macbeth; and served as the "Chinese Ambassador of Ancient Rare Books".
