Daniel Katz is an American film finance executive and producer best known as a co-founder of the Academy Award-winning independent entertainment studio A24. Alongside partners David Fenkel and John Hodges, Katz launched the New York-based company in 2012 with a vision to build a filmmaker-driven studio that championed distinctive, auteur cinema. Over the next decade and a half, his corporate leadership helped guide A24 from a boutique regional distributor into a multi-billion-dollar global powerhouse.

Before establishing A24, Katz built a highly successful career specializing in structured media investment and entertainment finance. He famously led the film finance group at the global investment firm Guggenheim Partners, where he was responsible for capital allocation, structuring slate financing deals, and backing numerous mainstream Hollywood productions. This deep investment background provided the financial foundation and unique capitalized freedom that allowed A24 to aggressively acquire and produce unconventional indie hits during its formative years.

Under his continuing guidance, A24 has grown to dominate both the box office and the award circuits. The studio famously achieved historic Best Picture wins at the Academy Awards for Moonlight (2016) and Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), alongside massive pop-culture horror franchises like Hereditary (2018) and the viral phenomenon Backrooms.
