- "I translate space into the language of the camera before the camera is even there - creating spatial truth (scale, proportion, light) as a decision-making tool for the director and cinematographer, before anything is built."
Nelli Molnár is a Hungarian Lead Model Maker and Assistant Art Director, working within the Art Department on major international feature film and television productions. Architect-trained (Master's degree, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest), she specializes in concept-stage production model making, designing in 3D software (ArchiCAD, Rhino, Cinema 4D, SketchUp), 3D scanning and printing, and constructing precise scale physical models that translate a designer's vision into a physical form the director and cinematographer can work from before shooting. As Assistant Art Director, her work also includes daily on-site construction oversight, working closely with construction teams to direct and follow through on the build. She has worked as Lead Model Maker across the Dune franchise, including nine months on Dune: Part Three under production designer Patrice Vermette, as well as on Halo, Moon Knight, Gran Turismo, Shadow and Bone, Dune: Prophecy, Stockholm Bloodbath, Matchbox the Movie and The Yeti.
