Aaron Louis

Overview

  • Born
June 21, 1971 · Daytona Beach, Florida, USA

Mini bio

  • Aaron Louis is the Director of Audio Visual at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). He is a Founding Member of Ideas Beyond Borders, where he also serves on the Advisory Board, a Board Director at 3-Legged Dog Media + Theater Group, and an Advisory Board Member for the media company This Is 42. Beyond his institutional roles, Aaron is the composer and lyricist for the Brooklyn-based punk/new wave band "The Clamor" and works as a freelance producer. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University School of Fine Art.

Aaron wrote, directed, and produced the music video for "Staircase Stomp" for which he also composed the song. The video combines stop-motion and digital animation to align with the narrative and visual themes of the track.

An accomplished producer and author, Aaron has written the Southern Gothic novella "Things That Hang From Trees" and the screenplay for its adaptation by Aviles Street Productions. His producer credits span film and theater, including the documentary "Islam and the Future of Tolerance" and the co-production "Islamophobia: A Conversation" with BAM and WNYC for RadioLoveFest, moderated by WNYC's Brian Lehrer.

As the former Producing Director at 3LD Art & Technology Center, Aaron oversaw productions such as "The Human Scale" (a 3LD and Public Theater co-production, written/performed by Pulitzer Prize-winning Lawrence Wright and directed by Oskar Eustis), "Making Up the Truth" by "This American Life" regular Jack Hitt, the Drama Desk-nominated "Spy Garbo" directed by Kevin Cunningham, and the off-Broadway run of Marielle Heller's "The Diary of a Teenage Girl", now a major motion picture.
