Biography

After studying film history at University Paris III, Pascal-Alex Vincent worked in Japanese film distribution in France. "Final Exams", his first short film in 2000, marked the beginning of his collaboration with Local Films, which produced his next five shorts - including "Baby Shark", which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005, and his animated short, "Candy Boy", which was selected for Director's Fortnight at Cannes 2007. In 2009, his first feature, "Give Me Your Hand" ("Donne-Moi La Main"), starring identical twins Alexandre and Victor Carril, was released in 15 countries, including the United States, where it was released theatrically by Strand. Critically acclaimed, the film was also chosen by New York's Museum of Modern Art to be showcased in their annual event, New Directors/New Films.

In 2010, Pascal directed the first authorized documentary about Miwa, a famous Japanese impersonator from the 1960's entitled "Miwa, a la recherche du lezard noir".

2010 also saw Pascal direct the short film "En Colo", specifically as a collection of shorts fighting back against homophobia.

In May of 2011 Pascal directed a music video for the California-based band, Family of the Year. The song is called "The Princess and the Pea" off their album "Songbook". It can be viewed on YouTube.

In July of 2011, Pascal directed a music video for the song "Darwin Smiles" by the band Kill the Young from their latest album "Thicker Than Water".

In 2012 Pascal will direct his second feature, a horror/thriller called "It's In The Trees" ("Dans La Foret"). The film will be produced by Balthazar Productions (Les Productions Balthazar) and Jerome Doppfer. European film star, Francois Goeske, is attached to play the male lead.
