- Luis Rainer was born on August 2, 1885 in Brixen, Tyrol, Austria-Hungary. He was an actor, known for Wenn die Musik nicht wär (1935), Lowlands (1954) and Menschen ohne Vaterland (1937). He died on March 19, 1963 in Montagnola, Switzerland.
- The movie 'Tiefland' directed by Leni Riefenstahl, was only released in 1954.
- He began his career at the theater where he remained active for many decades. His engagements led him among others to Zurich, the Deutsches Theater in Berlin as well as other theaters in Berlin, Vienna, Salzburg and especially Dresden.
