Biography

Joel Marcus is an Editor, Writer, Producer. Joel cut his teeth on the streets of SoHo London learning his craft under some of the UK's finest film editors. His first foray into film was as a sound editor, working on dramas and documentaries for BBC, C4, ITV in the UK. Distinctly sensitive to pacing, rhythm and tone, it wasn't long before he lent his eye to editing music videos for award winning musicians such as Oasis, Nick Cave, Paul Weller, U2, Super Grass, Dru Hill, Rise Against to name but a few. His unique aesthetic also helped shape brand identities for big name clients like Nike, Vans, Tommy Hilfiger, Mercedes Benz and many others. Most recently Joel played an integral part in the making of the award winning documentary: First We Bombed New Mexico-The other side of the Oppenheimer story. He also edited and Produced the critically acclaimed documentary, As I AM: The Life and Times of DJ AM and also wrote and edited Bad Reputation the documentary about pioneering rock star Joan Jett, In addition Joel has also edited short films and other long form work for BBC, C4(UK), ZDF Germany and ARTE France.

A long time transplant from the UK and a staple of Venice Beach, California. Joel can often be found on his coffee break, walking his beloved dog Billie, provoking thought and conversation whilst musing on the idiosyncrasies and curiosities of life, love, politics, art, music and his beloved Manchester United.
