Bob Seger is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s, breaking through with his first national hit and album in 1968. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the 'System' from his recordings and continued to strive for broader success with various other bands. In 1973, he put together the Silver Bullet Band, with a group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful on the national level with the album Live Bullet (1976), recorded live in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the studio album Night Moves. Seger has recorded many hits, including "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", "Still the Same", "We've Got Tonight", "Against the Wind", "Shame on the Moon", "Like a Rock", and "Shakedown", which was written for Beverly Hills Cop II (1987). His recording of "Old Time Rock and Roll" was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001. With a career spanning six decades, Seger has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Seger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012. Seger was named Billboard's 2015 Legend of Live honoree at the 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards. He announced his farewell tour in September 2018.

To preserve his voice for the stage, he does not talk in the hours immediately before and immediately after concerts.
A smooth-voiced vocalist from Detroit, Seger is also an accomplished songwriter. He is responsible for many hit rock songs including: "Night Moves", "Against the Wind", "Old Time Rock and Roll" and "Shakedown". He also co-wrote "Heartache Tonight" which was a #1 hit single for Eagles. Bob did not actually write "Old Time Rock and Roll". The writing credits for it go to George Jackson and Tom Jones III. Bob did change several of the lyrics but decided against taking songwriting credit. Which later, he said he wish he had added his name so he could have gotten the royalties for the publishing rights.
Has worked with his manager, Punch Andrews, for over 40 years.
Resumed recording and touring in 2006, after taking an 11-year hiatus to raise his children.
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 1750 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.

I was a poor kid. It was a disappointment to grow up and realize there really weren't families like on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1952). That in middle-class families, the guy went off to the bar and got drunk and smashed up the car just like in poor families.
I think rock will last; it's proved its legs. But how the performers will be remembered, that's another thing.
I'm just trying to keep things simple, and just be a little more offhand and not get so deep into things. Enjoy what you got right now, because who knows what's going to happen tomorrow.
