- Noreen Young was born in Almonte, Ontario, and is known for producing "Noreen Young Productions" and the infamous television program "Under the Umbrella Tree" (1986). She began the production company in 1976, and still has the puppets and a puppet organization today. When UtUT show was cancelled in 1993, it still aired in re-runs until 1997. Young has plans to either re-air the old shows in 2005, or release DVDs on all the show's seasons in 2005.

- Young grew up in Old Ottawa South. She was interested in puppets since she was 12 year old and would perform puppet shows at stores and coffee shops in town, including the renowned Le Hibou Coffee House on Sussex Drive.
- Young went on to art school, but found herself returning to puppetry afterwards.
- She was also the first artistic director of the Puppets Up! International Puppet Festival in Almonte, Ont., which began in 2005 and was saved for a hiatus between 2017 and 2022. It is still running to this day.
