When she was age 19, she entered a beauty contest. The winner of this contest had the chance to be in a short movie shot at the lake with silent movie star Nell Shipman. Dorothy won and starred in Light On Lookout. Dorothy later married one of the film crew, Aubrey Overmyer. They had a daughter together shortly before getting a divorce. Dorothy went on to work at Big Mountain Ski Resort in Whitefish, Montana, in it's very early days and became a postmaster for the United States Post Office. She died December 31, 1989.
