After spending most of her life as a homemaker, Sharmila discovered her passion for acting later in life and transitioned into theatre following her children's graduation. Since then, she has appeared in short films, television commercials, Netflix series, and feature films. In addition to her acting career, she is also a published poet and author of her own poetry collection.
