Biography

Kent Wheeless is an award-winning film composer based in Charlotte, NC. His score to the dark horror film Morbid established him as an exciting new voice in the horror and dark thriller genre. Kent's score for @Tori_Love was awarded Best Score at the city's 48HR Film event; the film also took home best picture, best director, and best writing.

Kent collaborated with filmmaker Tyler Peterson to score Tyler's debut short film, Baby Girl, which led to the duo partnering in a full-spectrum post-production company, Kaleido-Boom, with Kent helming the music and audio division.

Kent's style often fuses electronic soundscapes with traditional orchestral writing. Embracing both modern production and nostalgia, Kent's scores feature a mix of melodic themes and atmospheric sound design.

Kent's passion for filmmaking started at an early age, shooting homemade films with his childhood friends. He studied film, graphic design, and visual effects before branching out into the world of film music. He then became mentored by composer, Michael Tavera (The Land Before Time 2-14; Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves; Star Wars: Resistance). This broad background gives him an industry insider's approach to collaborating with directors on compelling original scores.
