  • Rafael Mazza, born in the Baixada Fluminense region of Rio de Janeiro in 1981, has dedicated himself to cinematography since 1998. He began his career as an editor of documentaries such as "O Som da Rua" by Roberto Berliner and the long version of the film "Onde a Coruja Sleep" by Marcia Derraik and Simplicio Neto.

    He directed the award-winning short "1 ano e 1 dia", as well as the films "Bicho Lamparão", "Todo dia é assim", "Santeros". Throughout his career he has collaborated with photography on projects by big names in documentary filmmaking around the world, such as: João Jardim, Daniel Gordon, Pierre Barouh, Vincent Moon, Susanna Lira, Jorge Bodanzky, Maria Augusta Ramos. With films distributed in cinemas and exclusive productions for the main streaming channels such as Paramount Plus, Netflix, Globo Play, Disney Plus.

    Member of the "Cineclube Mate Com Angu" in the municipality of Duque de Caxias-RJ. An activity that was a phenomenon of Rio de Janeiro culture in the early 2000s and that greatly contributed to its cinephile formation.

    In parallel to audiovisual production, he teaches in several workshops in the field of Popular Audiovisual Education. Working primarily on documentary content, covering Photography, Directing and Editing. Highlighting the "Oficina de Cinema Ambiental Humano Mar", a project that was carried out in 2007, its first year, 30 documentaries portraying the conflicts in the oil production chain on the north coast of Rio de Janeiro.
