Jakob Arevärn

I live and work in northern parts of Sweden, close to nature and close to the stories that shaped me as a filmmaker. I enjoy experimenting with different visual tools and approaches. For me, filmmaking is an artistic practice rather than a fixed process, and each project asks for its own language. I work across both documentary and fiction, and I see that as a strength. Documentary keeps me grounded in reality, while fiction allows me to stretch it. Moving between the two shapes how I tell stories, and hopefully gives an genuine and original tone to my projects. When not behind the camera, i´m most likely exploring the northern forests, accompanied by my loyal dog Kerstin.
