Biography

Valerie Slocomb is an actress, singer, songwriter, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles and New York City. She is currently a Drama Major at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in the Experimental Theater Wing. She began acting in San Diego when she was six. Before moving to LA at sixteen, she had won two National Youth Arts Awards (NYA’s) and two other NYA nominations for her work. Some notable film acting credits include her roles as You 2 in Fathead (Cannes Film Festival Student Short Film Winner, directed by C Craig Patterson), Jessica in a filmed exhibit at The Museum of Tolerance LA called Bullying POV (directed by Ava Rikki and Daddy Ramazani), and the daughter in a PSA for the US Veterans Affairs Department called Pivot Point (directed by The Fackrell Brothers, Nate and Matt). She also acts in student films and in her own films. She has written, directed, scored, and acted in four of her own films. One of them, Perfection, won runner up for best film at a San Diego high school film festival. Some notable theater credits include: "Allegory" at La Jolla Playhouse’s WOW Festival (directed by Sammi Cannold and Emily Maltby), and cast member of the workshop of the new musical "Witnesses", at the California Center for the Arts Escondido (where she worked with Tony winner Robert L. Freedman, Mindi Dickstein, J. Scott Lapp, Anna K. Jacobs, Matt Gould, Carmel Dean, Adam Gwon, Gerald Sternbach, and Jordan Beck). She has performed at the San Diego County Fair as Dorothy in some select songs from The Wizard of Oz, and she was chosen to perform as one of California Center for the Arts Esconidio’s "Rising Stars". Valerie releases original music, which has been streamed in over fifty countries by over thirteen-thousand listeners. She is a composer, vocalist, producer, and guitarist.
