Biography

Abdul Sattar Al-Basry was born on February 22, 1947 in Basra, Iraq. He was an actor, known for The Shadow Men (1996), Theyab Al-Lail (1992) and Ala'm al Seet Waheeba (1997). He died on May 12, 2024 in Baghdad, Iraq.

He studied at the College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad in 1967, and graduated from it in the academic season 1971 - 1972, Department of Theater, to join the National Acting Troupe in 1974.

Abdul Sattar Al-Basry is considered one of the pioneers of Iraqi drama, especially in theatre, where he excelled in roles that speak the classical language.

He left Basra and went to Baghdad to study law.

Throughout his illustrious career, al-Basri graced the stages of Iraqi theater, cinema, and television, leaving an indelible mark on the Iraqi art scene.

He was a versatile actor, captivating audiences with his performances in a wide range of genres, from comedies to dramas.
