Webster(II)

Aly Ndiaye, (alias Webster), was born and raised in the Limoilou neighborhood of Quebec City (Canada). With a Senegalese father and a Quebecois mother, he has always been proud of his origins and describes himself as a purebred SénéQueb Métis. His passion for history led him to pursue university studies in this field. An activist, Webster is very involved in social issues; he gives lectures on a variety of topics, including cultural diversity, perseverance, and the social impact of hip-hop on young people. His favorite topic is the history of Black people in Quebec and Canada since the early 17th century. In order to better disseminate this information, he has set up Qc History X tours, guided tours of Quebec City focusing on slavery. Since 2009, he has been traveling the world to present writing workshops where he teaches the creative use of French through rap. He has visited several American universities, including Harvard, MIT, Howard, Georgetown, and UCLA. He has also given concerts and writing workshops in several countries in Africa, Europe, and Asia. On the musical side, Webster has been active since 1995. A founding member of the Limoilou Starz collective, he is a veteran and one of the pioneers of the Quebec hip-hop movement. Le Vieux de la Montagne is known for the quality of his lyrics and the intelligence of his words. His art is a tool he has been refining for two decades in order to convey his cultural and intellectual background in the most creative way possible.
