Biography

Hannah Cowley grew up in Islington and was discovered by an agent as a child. She became one of the most sought-after young performer's in the UK, shooting print, television and billboard campaigns across the UK and Europe, including being the first "Milky Bar Princess." Her family later emigrated to Australia. While earning a BA (First Class Honors) in History, her directing debut 'Flame of the West' was mentored by Jane Campion; it was distributed by Ouat Media/Movieola. She undertook her first year of a PhD in History before relocating to Los Angeles where she filmed roles in Bernard Rose's 'Two Jacks' and Chris Sparling's 'The Atticus Institute.'

DJ'd her own radio show on Sydney's BondiFM called "Any Colour You Like." The show ran thematically linked music stretching from Mahler to Ministry. She left after the station changed management and requested more commercial music.

Hannah was featured in billboard advertising all over the UK during the 1980s.

Studied PhD in History (counter-insurgency, trans-nationalism, colonialism, concentration camps) at UNSW.

Half-Scottish, half-English.

[on Hollywood] I think it's a very accessible place, I love that about America and Americans in general - there's a real openness and enthusiasm about trying the impossible. Optimism is contagious - you definitely feel here than you can try almost anything with minimal risk.

[on Haunting of the Innocent] My friends were looking at me thinking "er, pale Viking witch? Another case of typecasting!" Half of my family are Scottish and descended from a clan in the very remote, northern Isle of Skye, and coincidentally, I have a few Old Norse songs stuck in my head from school so right off the bat it was a role I was fascinated by and felt naturally inclined toward.
