Mini bio

  • Arnór Björnsson is an Icelandic actor, writer and director best known for Meikar Ekki Sens and Algjör Sveppi og Gói bjargra málunum.

He started studying drama in Iceland University of the Arts in 2019.

Arnór wrote his first professional full length play, Unglingurinn, at age 14 alongside Óli Gunnar Gunnarsson. The show did exceptionally well in Iceland and went on tour around the world, in Norway, Poland and China. The play was nominated for two Icelandic Theatre Awards and was televised twice on The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV).

Arnór and his cousin Óli Gunnar Gunnarsson are lifelong friends and have worked together for over 10 years. They wrote their first novel in 2015, Leitin að Tilgangi Unglingsins, at age 16 alongside Bryndís Björgvindsóttir, published by Forlagið. The book would go on to be the highest selling teenage book of Iceland in 2015. Arnór and Óli then adapted the book to a play, Stefán Rís, in 2016. Produced by Gaflaraleikhúsið. Their third play, Fyrsta Skiptið, which they wrote in collaboration with other young artists, was also a commercial hit. It toured the country and was televised on Sjónvarp Símans in 2020.

Through 2014-2017 Arnór did the Icelandic voice acting for Phineas in the hit Disney series Phineas and Ferb. In 2018 he performed on Iceland's biggest stage as a dancer in Reykjavík City Theatre's Rocky Horror.

Most recently Arnór turned to television, once again teaming up with Óli Gunnar. They premiered their first sketch-comedy show, Meikar Ekki Sens, on Sjónvarp Símans' streaming service and national television. Arnór Björnsson also played the role of a Bully in the 2014 film Algjör Sveppi og Gói bjargar málunum.

He grew up in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland with an older sister, a younger brother and two parents.
