- Rudolf Merkner was born on October 14, 1972 in Prague, Czechoslovakia [now Czech Republic]. He is a writer and producer, known for How to Survive Your Love (2023), Wonderful Times (2009) and Milion (2025). He has been married to Jana Bernásková since 2012. They have two children.

- During his studies at Film and TV School of AMU (FAMU) he spent hours and hours watching VHS tapes and he and his classmate wrote down individual pictures of film on post-it notes. They were inspired by F. Truffaut, who, as they read, was repeatedly going to cinema to watch the same movies again and again in order to understand how they were made.
- He loves and focuses on storytelling through images, gestures, and behavior. He prefers strong stories and characters that grow and become strong over the course of the story. His role models in terms of narration are, among others, M. Forman, A. Hitchcock, F. Truffaut.
- He made his first movie, called "Express", in 1987 at the age of 15 with camera Super 8, that he bought with his savings. It was a short movie, about 3 minutes, of the western genre. The main character was unfortunately killed immediately because his mom had sent him to grocery store to buy potatoes.
