Alice Coote was born on May 10, 1968 in Frodsham, England, UK. She is an actress, known for The Metropolitan Opera HD Live (2006), L'Incoronazione di Poppea (2009) and The Choral (2025).

She is an operatic mezzo-soprano. She is noted for the many "trouser" or "breeches" roles she has sung -- male characters portrayed by women with contralto or mezzo voices.

She was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2026 King's New Years Honours List for her services to the Arts. She is a Mezzo-Soprano in Suffolk, England.
