During the first Coronavirus-19 lock down in the UK, Kai-Yan released a self-published photography book called "Distance". This book became a local success, gaining media coverage and interviews. The book was sold to raise donations for NHS Charities Together and in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement.
In 2016, Kai-Yan (aged only 14) won the Best Film award for his short Star Wars fan-film. Predominantly edited using free softwares Blender and iMovie. The award was presented by 'This Is England' star: Vicky McClure and received a standing ovation at the Playhouse, Nottingham.
