- Former guitarist for rock bands Poison and Mr. Big. He was fired from Poison when it was discovered he was in a romantic relationship with his band-mate Rikki Rockett's fiancée, Deanna Eve.
- In 2006 recorded and released the Ai Senshi album. This was a collection of theme music from the Japanese Anime series Gundam, rerecorded by Kotzen and sung entirely in English.
- As a solo artist, opened for The Rolling Stones' "A Bigger Bang Tour" in Japan.
