Reggie Gaskins is a multifaceted and visionary storyteller whose work as a filmmaker, writer, director, producer, actor, and stand-up comedian has made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry for over two decades. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Gaskins began his artistic journey at the prestigious Freedom Theatre, where he honed his craft as a playwright and developed a strong foundation in film and television writing and directing.

After relocating to Los Angeles, Gaskins quickly found success with his very first television pilot, ABC’s groundbreaking improv series Go Sick. Initially cast as an actor, his sharp comedic timing and improvisational skills led him to write much of his own material, as well as numerous sketches for the show, establishing him early on as both a talented performer and writer.

Gaskins’ rise as an independent filmmaker was solidified with his debut feature film Restraining Order, which he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in alongside Robin Givens, James Avery, and Sean Blakemore. The film earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Writing of a Feature Film, served as the centerpiece selection at the 2006 Pan African Film Festival, and won Best Picture at the 2006 Hollywood Black Film Festival.

Throughout his career, Gaskins has continued to build an impressive and diverse body of work as a writer, producer, director, and actor. His feature films include Because We’re Done, streaming on Amazon Prime, as well as Our Christmas Love Story and the award-winning courtroom drama The Lying Truth, both streaming on Peacock. Gaskins recently completed production on his feature film TMI, which originally found success as a short film on Tubi and is scheduled for a fall 2026 release alongside his highly anticipated dramatic thriller, Commandment X. Continuing to expand his filmmaking slate, Gaskins is in pre-production on the action thriller The Replacement Killers, featuring a dynamic ensemble cast led by Gaskins alongside D’Kia Anderson and Claudia Jordan. He is also in talks for his courtroom romantic drama "Can This Love Last?" as well as his faith based drama "What’s the Point?".

As an actor, Gaskins continues to demonstrate his versatility with memorable performances across film and television, including his recent portrayal of Reverend Jones in the Netflix hit series Ms. Governor, as well as starring in the title role of the feature film The Handy Man, written and directed by Tangie Miller. Expanding his accomplishments behind the camera, Gaskins was also handpicked to direct the highly anticipated emotional drama The Last Breath, starring award-winning R&B singer and actor Gary "Lil G" Jenkins, best known as a member of the acclaimed 1990s R&B group Silk. The project further showcases Gaskins’ reputation as a filmmaker with a strong understanding of performance, character, and emotionally driven storytelling.

In addition to his work in film and television, Gaskins is an accomplished stand-up comedian who has performed at some of the country’s most iconic comedy venues, including The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, and The Comedy Chateau in Los Angeles, Carolines in New York, and Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta. His sharp wit, relatable humor, and commanding stage presence continue to earn him a growing national fan base.

The original title of his award winning 2nd feature film "The Lawyer, The Thug & The Princess" was inspired by one of his favorite westerns "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly".

Was a campus DJ at West Chester University under the name DJ Nice and he called his turn tables "The Wheels of Soul".

Played point guard at Dobbins Tech High School in North Philadelphia along side Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble.

Attended the prestigious Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia.
