Jimmy Farrell(I)

Jimmy Farrell will probably be remembered most for his singing on the legendary recordings of Johnny Green and His Orchestra made in 1935-36. Farrell, whose real name was James Phatager [or Phatiger], sang in the Glee Club and graduated with honors from Hobart College at Genoa, N.Y. For a short time he taught school before becoming a professional singer. In New York City he won first prize in Kate Smith's Search for Talent. For a period of about 2 years Farrell and Marjory Logan were assigned all of the vocal duets and solos with the Green Orchestra, on records and radio broadcasts, and they appeared in film shorts with Green. Farrell went on to sing in Broadway shows, such as the 1936 Ziegfeld Follies, in which he introduced "Midnight Blue", Banjo Eyes (with Eddie Cantor) and Paradise P.M.
