Biography

As a screenwriter, he was an integral figure in the emergence and development of the 'Romanian New Wave'. He collaborated since 2001 with key Romanian directors like Cristi Puiu, Cristian Mungiu, Alexandru Baciu, Radu Muntean, Constantin Popescu, Tudor Giurgiu, Radu Gabrea, Andrei Ujica, Lucian Pintilie and Cãlin Peter Netzer on some of the most acclaimed Romanian New Wave films. Radulescu further collaborated as a screenwriter with German director Didi Danquart, French-German directress Sylvie Michel, Bulgarian director Dragomir Sholev and British-Iranian director Rafi Pitts on feature films.

Razvan Radulescu is a Romanian novelist, screenwriter, script consultant, script editor, teacher, trainer and director.

He gave his literary debut in a group anthology entitled "Family Portrait [Tablou de familie]", published in 1995. Radulescu's first novel "The Life and Deeds of Elijah Cazane [Viata si faptele lui Ilie Cazane]", published in 1997, won the Romanian Writers' Union prize for best debut novel. His second novel "Theodosius the Small [Teodosie cel Mic]", published in 2006, received the EU Prize for Literature in 2010.

Between 2005 and 2012, he was a frequent guest teacher at the 'Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung' (HfG) in Karlsruhe, Germany, the 'École Supérieure des Arts Visuels' (ESAV) in Marrakesh, Morocco. Between 2012 and 2014 he was a tutor and trainer at the TorinoFilmLab in Turin, Italy.

Member of the 'Official Competition' jury at the 17th Sarajevo International Film Festival in 2011.
