Biography

Machiko Hasegawa was born on January 30, 1920 in Taku, Saga, Japan. She was a writer, known for Sazae-san no dassen okusama (1959), New Journey of Yaji and Kita (1952) and Fuku no kami: Sazae-san ikka (1961). She died on May 27, 1992 in Tokyo, Japan.

She was one of the first female manga artists in Japan.

Her comic, "Sazae-san", ran from 1946 to 1974. The TV cartoon adaptation Mrs. Sazae (1969) is still ongoing as of 2014 and is the longest-running anime in history.
