Biography

Melissa Nocetti is a Mexican cinematographer working across fiction, documentary, commercial, and hybrid forms. Her credits include "Luz Nocturna", selected for the Official Selection at Cannes 2022 and the Manaki Brothers Photography Festival; "Suncatcher", presented at Locarno and MoMA; "Manos Ajenas", selected for the Emerga Cameraimage Film and Art School Etudes Competition in 2024, it received the Student Jury Award at the Zsigmond Vilmos Film Festival; and "Astronauta", nominated for the David Donatello Award and screened at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.

Her feature film debut as cinematographer was "Vittoria", which premiered in the Orizzonti Extra section of the 2024 Venice International Film Festival. She also worked on "Si No Ardemos Como Iluminar La Noche", which premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival. She has photographed eight fiction features, including science fiction, comedy, thriller, drama, documentary, and hybrid forms.

Following a workshop with Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Nocetti directed the short film "I Used to Call That Man Home", which premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. She studied cinematography at the Centro de Capacitacion Cinematografica and was part of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Vision Mentorship Program in 2020-2021. She is a member of the cinematographer collective Apertura and has participated in workshops with Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, and Bela Tarr.

Nocetti works between Latin America and Europe. She speaks Spanish, English, and Italian.
