Sergio Vázquez-Mora is a Mexican-American filmmaker and visual artist whose work explores the space between dreams, memory and the mundane, often blending realism with a strong sense of magic, nostalgia and the mystical beauty in the ordinary. Rooted in his experience as a Mexican immigrant, his work stems from a deep belief that realism and magic are not opposites.
Native to Guadalajara, México, Sergio studied at the School of Film, Television and Digital Media at UCLA. He works in narrative, music video and fashion in LA and Mexico City, specializing in shooting and directing on 16mm motion picture.
In 2021, he co-founded 'Flat Memory Media' -alongside his best friends- an independent film collective based in Los Angeles that partners with local artists to produce and distribute short films, music videos, and fashion campaigns.
In 2026, he focused on the development of his debut feature, El Laberinto de la Soledad -a quarter-finalist at the 2026 Antigravity Academy's Screenwriters Camp- set to shoot in Los Angeles and México.
