Biography

Hugues Namur is a VFX Supervisor with over 25 years of experience in graphic arts, production and visual effects. Based in Paris, he has been working with MPC Paris since 2005, supervising feature films for some of the most renowned French and European directors.

He developed an early interest in computer generated imagery in the early 1990s, a time when access to CG tools was limited, and began his career as a matte painter for commercials before quickly training on Maya as soon as the software became available. He steadily expanded his expertise across CG pipelines, environments and character work. In 2001, he started collaborating with MPC Paris as a freelance VFX Supervisor on his first feature films, including Amen by Costa Gavras and Le Boulet by Alain Berbérian. With a strong background in 3D production, he has contributed to a wide range of projects, from photorealistic films such as Jacques Perrin’s Oceans to more imaginative worlds like Michel Hazanavicius’ The Lost Prince.

With more than 80 feature films to his credit, his work includes major titles such as Asterix at the Olympic Games, Chocolat by Roschdy Zem, Memoir of War by Emmanuel Finkiel, The Congress by Ari Folman, Elle by Paul Verhoeven, Santa and Cie by Alain Chabat and Proxima by Alice Winocour. His projects have received multiple international awards and nominations, including César and European Film Awards. In 2021, he was named to the Academia Mexicana de Artes for his work on Nuevo Orden. He won the GENIE Award for Best Visual Effects in 2022 for the series Around the World in 80 Days and again in 2023 for the Prime Video series Totems.

His recent work includes supervising the visual effects for Bertrand Bonello’s The Beast, Bruno Dumont’s The Empire, the feature film Drone, and the short film Allégorie Citadine, highlighting his versatility across genres and formats.
