Nick Bamford(I)

Nick graduated from Christ Church, Oxford in 1974, and was on staff at the BBC as Studio Manager, Radio and Assistant Producer and Producer, TV until 1986 apart from a one year break as a flotilla skipper in the Greek Islands He attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School from 1986-7 on a Director's attachment, then worked as a freelance producer/director in both theatre and TV for the next 25 years. In 2010 he joined Bournemouth University as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader of their prestigious BA Television Production course, and in 2016 completed his PhD by practice based around his screenplay 'Bangkok Butterfly' - a contemporary gay take on the immortal 'Madame Butterfly' story. In 2016 he took over as Programme Leader for MA Directing Film and Television. In 2019 he joined Falmouth University as a Senior Lecturer in TV Drama. Other writing includes two produced stage plays 'Rough Trade' and 'Queer Counsel' as well as three screenplays. Jan 2019 - 'Bangkok Butterfly' is in development with Poisson Rouge Pictures, produced by Christopher Granier-Deferre. In 2019 he wrote the screenplay for 'Free to Be', produced by CLP Productions
