Mark Rutherford(I)

Composer-producer Mark Rutherford is classically trained, his innovative approach to composition and unique style of production has led to him being increasingly in demand for the scoring of feature films and video games. He has worked for some of the world's most prominent producers, directors artists and writers, including Peter Gabriel, Steve Levine, William Orbit, Goldie, Mike Oldfield, Simon Beaufoy, John Woo, Tony Cinciriprini, Billie Eltringham and the late John Hughes. Composing and producing for a wealth of projects has enabled Mark to demonstrate his talent for fusing a huge variety of musical styles into his work.

Recently, Mark completed the orchestral score for 'Aliens vs Predator', the video game from Twentieth Century Fox and SEGA, The score was recorded at the Bratislava Radio Studios in Slovakia, additional recording, mixing and mastering were all done at Mark's London studios.

Mark also composed the music for the feature film "This is Not a Love Song", written by Simon Beaufoy (Slum Dog Millionaire). His music has featured in many other films including Hell's Kitchen (starring Rosanna Arquette and Angelina Jolie), Blood Brothers (by director Jon Woo). Peace One Day and Sacred Planet.

Mark's introduction to working on feature films came when Grammy award winning producer Steve Levine offered him the opportunity to work in his state of the art studio in London. Together they worked on many feature films including the Grammy Award winning Planes Trains and Automobiles. 'Eversmile New Jersey' starring Daniel Day-Lewis and 'Mister Frost' staring Jeff Goldblum.

As well as composing and producing for film and video games Mark has worked extensively in the music industry. His work with William Orbit involved co-producing, co-writing and remixing on a number of projects with artists such as Beth Orton, Yothu Yindi, Bassomatic, The Christians, Peter Gabriel, Ellie Lawson and Strange Cargo.

Mark's work with artist and friend Goldie led to the creation of Metalheadz and the Rufige Cru, two underground production teams that helped pioneer a completely new sound, Drum & Bass. Together, their production and writing skills brought massive underground success.

Peter Gabriel invited Mark to compose and produce an album using contributions from a variety of artists at Gabriel's Real World Recording Studios in Box. The result, 'Way Down Below Buffalo Hell' by Jam Nation, featured artists attending Gabriel's Real World recording week - Daniel Lanois, Jah Wobble, Billy Cobham Joe Strummer, Papa Wemba, Joseph Arthur and Gabriel himself.

Mark has also worked with Mike Oldfield, Einsturzende Neubauten, Arthur Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren.

Mark is now scoring the British horror feature "Devil's Bridge".
