Shay Kanot is considered one of the top directors working today in Israel. Shay is known for making the big summer comedies for the cinema. Shay created and directed drama series for the Israeli television which have global sales. Shay has a BA in film studies from the University of Tel-Aviv and was an officer in the Israeli Army where he achieved the rank of Captain.

Shay Kanot's TV shows and feature films have been commercially successful and artistically unique.

The crime series The Arbitrator (4 seasons), which Shay Created and Directed, is considered one of the best shows ever screened in Israel. Shay directed the Israeli comedy cult film: "Colombian Love". Gal Gadot stars in Kanot's movie "Kicking Out Shoshana", her first and only Israeli movie. "Bnei Or", the TV series directed by Shay Kanot, was the most watched series in Israel in 2021, and number one in Google's popular search terms in Israel.
