Marissa Cox (Marissa Nicole Cox Romero) an American actress, performed in film, television, stage and the theater. From San Jose, California USA. Marissa Cox, known for being included in the Hollywood film scene and her contributions to the arts industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. Marissa also performed as a Christian Singer-Song-Writer, Editor, Publisher and worked as a Nurses Aide. Marissa survived a bad case of Covid-19 in 2020 however it contributed to the development of end-stage liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, severs asthma and other problems impacting her health and body into 2026 as she attempted to continue with her goals.
In the 1960's and 1970's growing up in San Jose, California, Marissa sang and played instruments in school and church bands as well as performing in plays and programs. Marissa enjoyed playing sports and played as a starting pitcher in her neighborhood baseball league (Moreland Little League). Her best performance as a teenager in the Senior League Division, Marissa, having good command of the nuckle-ball, struck-out 19 batters in a row in a 7 inning 21 out game. Marissa also kept busy delivering newspapers for the San Jose Mercury News, listening to pop and rock music and also watching movies at the theaters. Marissa cooked at Jack-in-the-Box and Tony Roma's Restaurants. Marissa married in 1975 and became a parent to her first son in 1976. The marriage ended in 1978 and 1 year later, Marissa met her second spouse.
In the 1980's, Marissa enjoyed being a daily watcher of the then new MTV music videos, went to many popular rock concerts as well as many Christian concerts and loved the movie theaters. Marissa became a parent to her second son in 1988. Marissa worked in the Pest Control industry in Spokane, WA as well as Sacramento, CA and San Jose, CA. thru 2005.
In 1994, Marissa began to have an interest in nursing after finding and assisting an elderly woman lying on the street after she had taken a fall. In 1995 and into the 2000's Marissa participated in adult Bible Study College classes and sang in church. Always giving thanks to and praising the Lord Jesus Christ in her daily life. Not claiming to be perfect in any way and admitting to her short comings. Walking by faith, "I forgive because I have been forgiven" is a statement Marissa posted on her Facebook account as a reference to her faith.
In the 2000's, Marissa trained as a Certified Nurses Aide and began working in the field in 2003 specializing in Home Health Aide services including hospice care situations feeling "led" in the direction of helping persons in need of care. Marissa helped many seniors and disabled individuals with many different health issues in their homes as well as in facilities.
Marissa Cox became active in the filming industry in the 2010's and continued into the 2020's primarily acting, writing and producing. Marissa appeared as an actress in film projects and movies, some of which include; "Pizza Guys - TV Advertising" (2018), "Veritas -Theater filming" (2019), "Padmavyuha" -movie (2020), "The Matrix: Resurrections" -movie (2021), "Pawn Stars: San Francisco" - TV Show (2022), "Fallaway" -movie (2025), "Greetings from Saint Helena" -movie (2025), "Reloaded 3 -movie (2025), "Whispers" -movie (2025), "Achilles Returns" -movie (2026), while pursuing a dream of producing her own films. Founder of Mt. A publication with a twist examining the life and times of California Celebrities local to the San Francisco Bay Area, with a special interest in celebs who reside in the San Jose, CA vicinity. Marissa also became an editor with an abbreviations company in 2024 and was the inventor of the abbreviation, "b'up" or, "bup" meaning, "better hurry up".
As a singer-song writer, Marissa wrote and sang songs in her rock band out of San Jose, California, "Marissa Cox, Contemporary Rock and Christian Originals Band" plus cover songs as well as a producer of movie sound-tract songs. A few of Marissa's original songs are movie music soundtrack songs. Marissa's band produced their first original songs and first live shows beginning in 2024 including hits, "My Black Cadillac", "Love that misty water", "Livin' in California", "Fear Not", "Bus Station Blues", "My kind of People", "The Fruits of the Spirit", "California Vacation", "Marcella", "I just can't get enough", "Love One Another, plus many others. Marissa suffered of diabetes since 2012. Unfortunately, in 2020 Marissa contracted a bad case of Covid-19 while working on-set for a week in Chinatown, San Francisco, CA which she never recovered from fully. In 2021 Marissa was diagnosed with kidney and liver disease after the development of symptoms related to "Long Term Covid" which meant Marissa would likely have to live a Covid-Symptomatic life. Marissa was given 5-10 years to live out her dreams. Marissa spent 2 weeks in Major Medical Care with pneumonia and a tough resurgence of Covid-19 in November and December of 2022 which quarantined her thru December of 2022. In July of 2024 Marissa was hospitalized for 3 weeks with yet her worse bout of Covid-19. Marissa continued to experience full body muscle pains and weakness, loss of weight, diminished eyesight, tiredness and difficulty breathing as she continued to experience the deterioration of her liver due to the cirrhosis of the liver and also kidney disease into 2026 when she was given about 2 years. In these final months, time being precious, Marissa tried to persevere on forward as she attempted to continue with her goals. Marissa worked to continue singing and moving forward in the movie business to her best ability even while struggling with the full body muscle deterioration, severe pain, severe asthma and being very weak into 2026 while always hanging onto hope and thanking the Lord for His provisions.
Marissa Cox's family consisted of a father, mother, an older sister, an older brother, two younger brothers, two previous spouses, two sons, many grandchildren, nephews, nieces and their children.
