Amy Coop is a BAFTA-nominated Director, Writer, Producer and AD working across Film and HETV. She is a multi-skilled and versatile filmmaker with a great deal of experience working with children and young people, and with over 25 years in the industry she has a strong set of creative, technical and production skills that have proven invaluable in her work. Her Directing work includes the BAFTA nominated and RTS winning teen adventure series 'Silverpoint', and the BBC drama 'Waterloo Road', as well as several multi-award winning short films (Annabel Lee, The Treehouse, Epitaph, A Little Bit Country). She has also produced and/or Directed music videos for a diverse range of artists including Ministry of Sound, Cradle of Filth, Shane Lynch, Shamaila Khan, Silversun, and many others. Her commercials and branded work includes films for Pepe Jeans, Red Bull, Nokia, Lenovo, Pedigree, BT Sport, Matalan, Aussie and more.
Having started out as a performer in acting, comedy and music, and still a keen multi-instrumentalist, she collaborates well with performers and brings an unmistakeable humour, rhythm and energy, as well as a strong visual style to her work. Her considerable experience also ensures that she can work with Clients, Producers and HODs alike to maximise the visual storytelling potential whilst working to tight schedules and budgets.
She is attached to direct 'Hear Me Roar' with Emma Thompson, Anna Friel, Christopher Ecclestone, Rebecca Root and Julian Ovenden starring. It's the true story of a belligerent working class trans woman who teams up with a privileged 'trophy wife' Barrister to take on the UK Government in an era defining fight for LGBTQ+ rights, and follows the ups and downs of their crusade and the life long friendship that came from it.
Amy is also attached to direct 'Viv', a raw and personal biopic about screen icon Vivien Leigh during the breakdown of her marriage to Laurence Olivier. Written by and starring Susie Lindeman (Howard's End), and produced by Sarah Pemberton and Oscar winning Producer Mark Foligno (The King's Speech), 'Viv' is slated for production in late 2025.
She has several projects in development including 'The Phantom Chapter', an exciting new YA fantasy drama, LGBTQ+ black comedy drama 'Vaginatown', and 'Blackwater', a supernatural horror set in the atmospheric tidal flats of England's dramatic east coast.
