Valentina Santillán Santamaría is a Mexican film editor based in London and Mexico City. After studying Film and Television at Centro Diseño, Cine y Televisión in Mexico City, she continued her training through a master’s degree in editing at the National Film and Television School in the United Kingdom.
In 2024, Valentina worked as an editor on the documentary miniseries Juan Gabriel (2025) for Netflix. The team, under the leadership of Valeria Valenzuela and María José Cuevas, received a nomination at the Platino Awards for Best Editing Direction in a Miniseries or TV Series. Alongside her work as an editor, she has also collaborated as an editing assistant and post-production coordinator on feature films and documentary series distributed on platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, and ViX.
She made her debut as writer, director, and editor with the short film Behind the Veil (Detrás del velo) (2024), which premiered at the 22nd edition of the Morelia International Film Festival. She has also edited short films including Guácara (2024), Cassette Sandía (2023), and Boca Punk (2022), screened at festivals such as Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival and the London Short Film Festival.
