Biography

Jay Newton is a Scottish actor, born in Glasgow. In 2019 he made his feature film debut in the Scottish Bafta nominated film Our Ladies. Jay can also be seen in ITV’s Payback and the BFI funded short Sleazy Tiger, where he won an Iris Prize for Best Performance in a Male Role in 2025.

He started his career early, cast in BBC’s drama River City in 2005. He went on to train as an actor and has since appeared in Shetland, Clique and BBC’s upcoming drama Counsels.
