Her family was engaged in Loknatya and plays. Born into an artist family, Usha too developed the same skills.

She has also played some roles in Telugu movies. One of the known was "Durdabitta" in which she starred opposite the famous actor Dr. Raj Kumar.

Her films with Dada Kondke earned quick recognition among Marathi film viewers. she acted in a series of hit movies as a lead pair.

In all, she has done more than 90-100 films.

Her mother has acted with legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor in a number of silent movies.

She is also the only Executor cum Trustee of Dada Kondke Trust and Properties which is more than 150 acres.

Usha Chavan is a noted Marathi and Hindi film actress. She was the leading lady of the Marathi comedy actor Dada Kondke, in many of his greatly popular Marathi movies.

Usha also owns a film production house named Abhinay Chitra. She has produced some movies namely Dharpakad and Gauracha Navra.

She made her career solely and reached to the top position in Marathi film industry by a combination of her hard work and beauty.

Usha was married to Dattatray Kadu Deshmukh who was a landlord and owned more than 25 acres of land in Pune! The couple has one son named Hridaynath Kadu Deshmukh.

She is Not only a great actress, she also one of the talented dancers of Marathi & Hindi Film Industry.

Though people know her by acting & dance, she is also a good singer. She rendered her voice for her few films. One of them was for her dance performance in Marathi Film 'Mukkam Post Dhebewadi' for the song 'Hirwya maadicha jeena awaghad...'.

She was also a part of Manoj Kumar starrer film "Shirdi Ke Sai Baba".

Made her directional debut with Gauracha Navra 1989.She was also producer,writer and lyricist of the film.

She owns the right to all of Dada Kondke films and had objected to its biopic.

After working in Songadya 1970.Dada Kondke only considered her as the heroine in his films.

Also tried her hand at direction with Gauracha Navra (1988) and Dhar Pakad (1994).
