Biography

Joe Knee

Mini bio

  • Joe Knee grew up in a small farm town in Central California. He is the 3rd of 4 kids, the middle of 3 boys with their sister the oldest of all. Knee graduated from BIOLA University in the spring of 1999 with an emphasis in Radio/Television/Film. Knee earned the Communications Department award for "Best Director" along with other festival awards such as "Best Picture" and "Best Screenplay" and "Best Cinematography" for his efforts on the film titled 'Something Stranger'. This film premiered at the 3rd Annual BIOLA Film Festival, a festival that Knee birthed and is now in its 8th consecutive season. Shortly after graduation, Knee devoted a year to the creation of the script _Last Leaf, The (2001)_, an idea based off the well-known story by American short story author O. Henry. Knee then raised over $100,000 in independent financing for the production of the film and quickly relocated to Los Angeles to helm the picture at Universal Studios in Hollywood. The Last Leaf screened for the Academy of Motion Pictures, on the Universal back-lot as well as Hollywood's historic Laemle theater. After three successful screenings, it saw its first international acquisition with HBO. Currently, the film is being shopped around for domestic licensing as well as to other international markets. The Last Leaf just aired locally in Los Angeles on the working titled TV show, 'American Dreams', (not to be associated with the new NBC TV show). Currently, Knee is developing the characters from The Last Leaf into a feature length story in which he is attached to direct. Other projects in development for Knee include a slap stick action / comedy feature about a boy and his under developed dream to become a stuntman. He is also in development with Last Chance Productions of an episodic drama dealing with the lives and relationships inside a group home. Joe currently resides and works in Burbank California.
