Biography

Sophie Emma Wells is a British-American Latina director, assistant director, and producer for romance and comedy films.

Before entering the film industry, Wells worked as a mechanical engineer. In March 2025, she changed careers to pursue filmmaking full-time. Since then, she has worked on a feature film. a Ringo Starr music video, and has directed an award winning short film Pencil & Doodles.

In 2026, Wells launched the "3-2-1 Project," an ambitious year-long challenge to direct three short films, produce two projects, and write one feature screenplay, documenting it all on her Instagram.

Wells also creates short comedic videos about life on set, moviegoing, and the realities of working in film. She also co founded the digital comedy club "We Need A Laugh," whose videos have amassed more than five million views online.
